Chiropractic Adjustments |
|
Chiropractic adjustments, also called manipulations, can be described as a low force thrust to put proper movement and position into a spinal bone, allowing optimal functioning of the nerve roots that exit the spine at that level. When irritated by the locked or dysfunctional joints, spinal nerves can send pain signals. For example, spinal nerves exiting the neck region supply the head, arms and hands. Therefore, when a nerve is irritated or "pinched" at this level, a person may experience neck pain or headache or arm and hand pain and tingling. Likewise, the nerves in the low back supply the buttocks, legs and feet, so nerves irritated in the low back may cause back, buttocks or leg pain, or numbness and tingling. A chiropractic adjustment restores proper position and movement of the vertebrae, thereby allowing the exiting spinal nerves at these levels to function normally. A chiropractic adjustment is gentle and usually completely comfortable and painfree. Especially exciting is the fact that the nerves that exit your spine through your spinal bones, also supply all cells in all organ systems of your body. Needless to say, chiropractic adjustments allow our bodies to be optimally healthy. |
